Ear Surgery
Otoplasty surgery is a (cosmetic) surgical operation that has the purpose of move pointy pinnas to a much more natural position. This operation can be used to correct any pointy ears and there is no age limit for the operation. It is possible to operate just for aesthetic reasons. Operation will be done in local anaesthesia and it takes approximately 1-2 hours. The cut will be made behind the auricle as that will prevent any visible scars after the pinna straightens up.

After the operation
You should use a patch or clip for 1-2 weeks after the operation. The area under operation must be kept dry and clean. Stitches will be removed one week from the operation, after which is still a good idea to keep a strip or band that goes over the ears during nights and while at home. Ears will rise a bit after the operation, but that will be only a fraction compared to the situation in the past.
After the surgery you will be tied with a pressure bandage that will be kept for 10 days i.e. as long as the stitches are removed. It is good to wear a head band during nights for 1-2 week after the surgery. After-care for the ear surgery (Otoplasty) After the operation a bandage is placed on top of the ear/s with a net on top.
Post-clearance examination is always needed. Post-clearance examination will happen on agreed time at the clinic. At this point the bandages and stitches will be removed. Condition of the wound will be checked at the same time.
