Your eyelids can be droopy for many reasons. Some children have this problem when they’re born, as the muscles that raise the eyelids haven’t developed as per normally. Such a child has to tilt his/her head in order to see. In those cases, you should turn to a specialist, because this may because this may be a reason for all kinds of problems. Most of the droopy eyelids form because the cord that connects the muscle to the eyelid stretches over time due to aging.
What is double eyelid surgery?
Eyelid surgery
Several different surgical methods can be used to restore the eyelid to its’ normal position. For example, we can shorten the muscles that open up the eyelid. As we age, the skin around the eyelid “stretches”. The skin around the eyelids has the thinnest skin on our bodies, so it’ll be the first to lose its elasticity. Loose skin around the eyelid can impair vision and give out a heavy, tired looking impression of yourself. You may also form “circles” around your lower eyelids. Excess skin on your upper eyelids can be removed surgically. Removing excess skin from the upper or lower eyelids can improve your looks and field of view. Read more about the Smile Eye Lift.
If the eyelid has a fat hernia, it can be removed at the same time. By doing so, the effects will be long term. Eyelid surgery is normally done with local anaesthesia. You cannot recognize the scars after the operation done to upper and lower eyelids. The cut will be made to the sulcus in the upper eyelid, and next to the eyelashes on the lower eyelid.
Healing from this operation is unique to the person. You may have swelling and bruises for about 2-3 weeks after the surgery. The skin around the eyes will also be numb for approximately 3 months after the operation. You can use makeup in the eyelids after approximately 7-10 days, but you must keep your eyelids away from direct sunlight.
